On Monday, October 16, the K2-6th grade students hopped on the Tiger Bus for a fun morning in Denton. The students were invited to meet and listen to author Greg Tine. Mr. Tine told the students that in order to be a writer a person has to be a reader. As a young child he read everything he could get his hands on. He eventually started writing stories of his own.
An important piece of story writing is the character development. Mr. Tine’s most famous character is Marvin Beeterman, Superhero. Marvin is a 3rd grader who lives in Los Angeles. He and his sidekick, Candace Brinkwater, save the city over and over again. Perseverance was another topic he discussed with the students. Early in his career, his stories were rejected by many publishers. He kept writing and sending his work to publishers. He has recently written a book for Disney.
